Summary

Join a startup Defence & Government company as a SC Cleared Programme Manager in Birmingham.

The business needs an SC Cleared Programme Manager who can hold several moving parts together without needing a committee to approve the next step.

You'd be joining at a point where decisions get made quickly and the right call matters more than the long meeting about it.

Here's what you'll be doing:

Own delivery of multiple defence and government programmes from initiation through to close, tracking scope, budget and risk as you go

Manage SC cleared teams and external suppliers, keeping everyone pointed at the same deadlines

Report programme status directly to government stakeholders, translating technical detail into something a non-technical sponsor can act on

Spot risks before they become problems and build mitigation plans that actually get used

Run governance boards and milestone reviews without turning them into box-ticking exercises

Work across procurement, engineering and security teams to keep programmes compliant and on track

Here are the skills you'll need:

Active SC clearance, non-negotiable given the nature of the work

Several years running programmes within Defence & Government, ideally with exposure to MOD or central government frameworks

Comfortable with formal governance (PRINCE2, MSP or similar) but not precious about process for its own sake

Strong budget and risk management skills, with a track record of keeping programmes financially honest

Clear communicator who can brief a minister's office one hour and a delivery team the next

Able to work independently in a small team where you'll genuinely wear more than one hat
