About the Role

Unipart is launching a high-volume manufacturing scale-up project in Coventry, scaling rapidly from zero to over 200 total site employees.  We are seeking a proactive Maintenance Technician (Multi-Skilled) to join our shift-based operational support team.  You will provide rapid breakdown response, perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and maintain equipment availability across shop-floor production lines.

As part of your key responsibilities you’ll focus on:

First-Line Breakdown Response - Respond promptly to mechanical and electrical equipment breakdowns, conducting root-cause fault finding to minimise production downtime

Preventative Maintenance (PPM) - Execute daily, weekly, and monthly planned maintenance routines and TPM checks across production machinery, automation, and site services

Fault Finding and Repair - Perform hands-on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs on manufacturing equipment, fixtures, and hand-held assembly tools

PLC and Control Diagnostics - Assist with basic PLC, sensor, and robotics fault diagnosis to keep automated assembly lines and moulding inputs running smoothly

Equipment Safety and LOTO - Adhere strictly to Health, Safety and Environmental (SHE) procedures, including Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) and risk assessments

Operational Shift Support - Work closely with production line operators, team leaders, and engineers to communicate machine faults, findings, and repair status clearly

Continuous Improvement - Support 5S housekeeping, Sub-Optimal Operations (SUBO) reduction, and The Unipart Way problem-solving routines

Maintenance Logs - Accurately log breakdown records, spare parts usage, and work orders within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

About You

We’d love you to have the following skills and experience, but please apply if you think you’d be able to perform well in this role!

Vocational Qualification - Time-served apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, or City & Guilds qualification in a Mechanical, Electrical, or Maintenance discipline

Multi-Skilled Experience - Practical experience as a Maintenance Technician or Assistant Engineer within a fast-paced manufacturing, automotive, or assembly environment

Electrical and Mechanical Competence - Hands-on ability to trace electrical faults and conduct mechanical repairs on pneumatics, hydraulics, and drive systems

Safety First Mindset - Thorough understanding of safe working practices, including LOTO, RAMS, and 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (desirable)

Diagnostic Skills - Practical familiarity with basic PLC inputs/outputs, sensor alignment, and robot/CNC cell safety circuits
