Reporting to the
Head Goods Receiver, you’ll play an important role in managing deliveries from the loading bay through to our different kitchen and storage areas. If you’re practical, computer literate, detail-focused and have a can-do attitude, we’d love to hear from you.
What you’ll do
- Receive food deliveries and check all items against the orders placed, ensuring the correct products, quantities and sizes have been supplied.
- Check product quality, packaging, use-by dates and temperatures, reporting any missing, damaged, incorrect or unsuitable goods.
- Move deliveries safely onto cages and distribute stock across different floors, including the 1st, 7th and 8th floors and their micro-kitchens.
- Unload and store goods promptly in the correct locations, including fridges, freezers, dry stores and cleaning storage areas, ensuring products are kept at the appropriate temperatures.
- Label products accurately and rotate stock correctly, maintaining traceability and following FIFO/FEFO principles where appropriate.
- Separate raw meat, ready-to-eat foods and allergen-related products appropriately to prevent cross-contamination.
- Complete delivery records, temperature logs and other administrative tasks accurately using computer-based systems.
- Report shortages, delivery discrepancies and rejected products, arranging credit notes where required.
- Keep loading bays and storage areas clean, tidy and safe, ensuring walkways and emergency access remain clear.
- Work closely with the Head Goods Receiver, kitchen teams, suppliers and site colleagues to resolve delivery issues and keep operations running smoothly.
What you’ll bring
- Experience in goods receiving, stock handling, food storage or a similar role, ideally within catering, hospitality or food service.
- Knowledge of stock rotation, date labelling and food traceability.
- Strong attention to detail when checking deliveries, recording information and identifying discrepancies.
- Good computer skills and confidence completing administrative tasks and maintaining accurate records.
- The ability to organise deliveries and move goods safely between loading bays, floors and storage areas.
- Good communication skills, patience and a flexible approach to managing deliveries and resolving issues.
- A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to work independently while supporting the wider team.
- Flexibility to work from 5:00am to 1:00pm, with occasional flexibility required once or twice a year.
- The ability to undertake the physical requirements of the role safely, using appropriate equipment and manual-handling techniques.
A good understanding of food hygiene, safe food handling, temperature control and food storage requirements.
A Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene qualification, knowledge of HACCP principles and experience with goods-received systems would be advantageous. Training can be provided where required.
Please note: Steel toe-capped safety shoes are required for this role.
