This is a varied administrative role that involves coordinating funeral arrangements with funeral directors, supporting bereaved families with care and sensitivity, and ensuring essential estates and building safety administration is kept up to date.
Key Responsibilities
• Funeral administration: Liaise with funeral directors to coordinate funeral arrangements, manage bookings and ensure all relevant paperwork is completed accurately and on time.
• Supporting bereaved families: Handle enquiries with patience, empathy and professionalism, recognising the sensitive nature of the work.
• Uniform management: Order, monitor and track staff uniforms, ensuring supplies are available when needed.
Purchase orders: Raise purchase orders (POs) and assist with purchasing and invoice-related administration.
• Building safety and compliance: Help ensure fire safety checks and records are kept up to date, and coordinate PAT testing (electrical equipment safety testing).
• Contractor coordination: Arrange contractor visits, inspections, servicing appointments and maintenance work.
• Records and reporting: Maintain accurate databases, job cards, stock records, inspection reports and departmental paperwork.
• General administration: Prepare correspondence, meeting documents and reports, while ensuring information is handled accurately and confidentially.
About You

You will have:
• Previous administrative experience, ideally involving record keeping, coordination or compliance paperwork.
• Excellent communication skills and the confidence to liaise with funeral directors, contractors, colleagues and members of the public.
• A patient, compassionate and understanding approach when dealing with bereaved families.
• Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Good IT skills and the ability to maintain accurate records and manage competing priorities.
• The ability to work independently, use your initiative and handle confidential information sensitively.
A caring and empathetic approach is essential, as this role involves dealing with people who may be experiencing a very difficult time. You must be able to remain calm, professional and understanding when handling sensitive enquiries.
