Summary
**Wolverhampton | Full-Time | Permanent**
**Operations, Product & Technology**
We are a growing, technology-led consumer claims group operating across regulated and non-regulated claims environments. Our businesses manage high-volume consumer claims processes, supported by modern software, automation, data and AI-enabled workflows.
As we scale, we are looking for a **Senior Business Analyst & Process Automation Specialist** to redesign complex processes, translate business challenges into technology requirements and identify safe, efficient automation opportunities.
## The Role
This senior, hands-on role sits between Operations, Product and Technology. You will analyse current workflows, identify friction and controls, design future-state processes and help deliver system and automation improvements.
You will lead discovery, analyse data, map end-to-end processes, define requirements and acceptance criteria, support solution design and UAT, and measure outcomes after implementation.
Automation is central to the role. You will identify where workflow automation, integrations, rules-based processing and appropriate AI capabilities can reduce manual effort, improve quality and increase capacity without compromising controls or customer outcomes.
## Responsibilities
**Business Analysis & Process Discovery**
- Lead discovery across claims, customer service and back-office teams.
- Map end-to-end processes, including hand-offs, systems, data, decisions, exceptions, controls and customer touchpoints.
- Identify root causes of delays, rework, manual effort, operational risk and inconsistent outcomes.
- Use data, management information and observation to validate problems and quantify their impact.
- Design simpler, controlled and scalable future-state processes.
**Requirements & Solution Definition**
- Translate business problems and process designs into clear requirements for Product, Engineering and Data teams.
- Develop user stories, business rules, process flows, functional requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Define exception handling, audit needs, controls and operational fallbacks from the outset.
- Challenge unclear requirements and avoid simply digitising inefficient processes.
- Maintain traceability from requirements through delivery, testing and measurable benefits.
**Process Automation & AI-Enabled Improvement**
- Identify and prioritise automation opportunities by value, feasibility, risk and effort.
- Evaluate workflow orchestration, rules-based automation, integrations, APIs, document processing and AI-enabled solutions.
- Partner with Product and Engineering to design reliable, maintainable and observable automation suitable for controlled environments.
- Design human-in-the-loop processes, exception routes and clear accountability where full automation is unsuitable.
- Track automation benefits, including hours saved, throughput, error reduction, cycle time and customer outcomes.
**Delivery, Testing & Implementation**
- Coordinate business readiness, documentation, UAT, operational acceptance, training inputs and implementation support.
- Define test scenarios covering standard journeys, edge cases, exceptions and controls.
- Support UAT, defect resolution, phased rollouts and controlled experimentation.
- Monitor performance after release and compare realised benefits against expectations.
**Data, Performance & Continuous Improvement**
- Establish performance baselines and success measures before implementation.
- Analyse queues, conversion, cycle times, exceptions, error rates and other operational metrics.
- Build business cases outlining benefits, dependencies, risks and delivery effort.
- Develop repeatable improvement methods and documentation standards.
- Promote evidence-led continuous improvement and challenge inefficient practices.
**Stakeholder Management & Cross-Functional Working**
- Build relationships across Operations, Product, Engineering, Data, Compliance and leadership.
- Facilitate workshops and decisions involving complex or competing requirements.
- Explain technical concepts clearly to business teams and operational needs to technical teams.
- Embed compliance, data protection, customer outcomes and controls in solution design.
- Communicate scope, decisions, risks, dependencies, progress and realised benefits.
## Benefits
- Competitive salary, dependent on experience.
- 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
- Opportunity to shape automation and process design across a growing technology-enabled claims group.
- Direct exposure to senior Operations, Product and Engineering leaders.
- A modern, data-led environment investing in automation, AI and scalable technology.
