Summary

Senior Underwriter Property & Casualty Underwriter

Location: Scotland (Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth, Aberdeen or surrounding areas)

Hybrid Working: 3 days per week in the Glasgow office and/or meeting brokers

Salary: Salary up to £65k + Bonus/Benefits

IPS Group is partnering with a highly respected global insurer to recruit a Property & Casualty Underwriter or Senior Underwriter to join its Scotland team. This is an outstanding opportunity for either an experienced Underwriter or a strong Senior Underwriter looking to step up into a role with greater market exposure, broker ownership and influence over regional growth. This is a genuinely broker-facing, new business-focused opportunity, offering the chance to build and develop a profitable portfolio across the Scottish market. You'll join a business that combines market-leading underwriting expertise with a culture that empowers individuals to make decisions, develop relationships and drive growth.

The Opportunity

You'll be joining a dedicated New Business team focused on underwriting Property & Casualty risks across the Mid-Market and Mid-Corporate space. Working closely with brokers across Scotland and the North of England, you'll be responsible for identifying opportunities, building relationships and delivering profitable growth.

Unlike many underwriting positions that involve a significant focus on renewals and account management, this role is heavily weighted towards new business generation and market engagement, making it ideal for someone who enjoys developing broker relationships and winning business.

Key Responsibilities

- Underwriting Property & Casualty new business risks across a broad range of sectors

- Building and developing broker relationships across Scotland and the North of England

- Driving profitable new business growth and developing a successful portfolio

- Identifying and capitalising on trading opportunities within the market

- Working closely with brokers to understand client needs and provide tailored underwriting solutions

- Supporting regional growth plans and underwriting objectives

- Representing the business in the market and becoming a trusted underwriting partner

About You

You'll have Property & Casualty underwriting experience gained within an insurer or MGA environment, alongside strong broker relationship management skills and a commercial mindset.

We're open to experienced Underwriters as well as ambitious Senior Underwriters looking for the next step in their career. Existing broker relationships within Scotland would be beneficial, although they are by no means essential.

The successful individual will be proactive, commercially minded and enjoy developing broker relationships, identifying opportunities and trading effectively to achieve profitable growth.

Why Join? This is an excellent opportunity to join a globally recognised insurer with a strong reputation in the market and a genuine commitment to investing in underwriting talent.

You'll benefit from:

- A dedicated new business role with minimal existing business responsibilities

- Genuine underwriting authority and autonomy

- Strong leadership support

- Clear career development opportunities

- Significant broker and market engagement

- Flexible hybrid working

- The opportunity to help shape growth across a key region

The role offers exposure to a varied mid-market and mid-corporate portfolio, with average premiums around £40,000 and responsibility for developing a profitable book of business through strong broker relationships and effective underwriting decisions.

If you're looking for a role where you can build broker relationships, drive growth and be trusted to make commercial underwriting decisions, we'd be delighted to hear from you.
