The Royal Association for Deaf people is looking for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Media Coordinator and Registered Sign Language Translator to help drive forward our growing translation and media services.

This is an exciting and varied role combining professional translation, accessible media production, project coordination, studio management and service development. You will deliver high-quality British Sign Language and English translations, coordinate projects from initial enquiry through to completion, and help develop new opportunities for RAD Media.

You will also have access to RAD Media’s dedicated London filming studios, giving you the opportunity to work in a professional production environment and help shape how our facilities and services develop.

What you will be doing

- Deliver high-quality, culturally appropriate British Sign Language and English translations for commercial clients and RAD projects.

- Produce filmed, in-vision and accessible media content for websites, campaigns, social media, policies and other communications.

- Coordinate translation and media projects from initial enquiry through to final delivery.

- Work with customers to understand their requirements and recommend appropriate translation and accessibility solutions.

- Lead studio-based filming and support editing and production processes.

- Oversee the day-to-day operation of RAD Media’s London filming studios.

- Ensure studio facilities and equipment are maintained and ready for use.

- Apply effective quality assurance and translation review processes.

- Build positive relationships with clients, partners, translators, editors and media professionals.

- Identify and develop new opportunities for translation, accessible media production and studio hire.

- Help promote RAD Media and contribute to the growth, visibility and commercial success of the service.

What we are looking for

- Registration as a Registered Sign Language Translator with the National Register of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People.

- A recognised qualification in British Sign Language and English translation.

- Proven experience of delivering professional British Sign Language and English translation across different formats.

- Experience of filmed, in-vision or accessible media translation.

- Strong knowledge of deaf culture and the accessibility needs of deaf communities.

- Excellent British Sign Language and English language skills.

- Experience coordinating projects, customer enquiries and competing priorities.

- A strong commitment to accuracy, accessibility and high-quality delivery.

- Excellent organisational, communication and relationship-building skills.

- Confidence working independently and collaboratively.

- Commercial awareness and an interest in developing new services and opportunities.

- Ability to attend the London office regularly and travel when required.

Experience of media production, filming, editing workflows, studio equipment, business development or accessible content design would be an advantage.

Why join RAD?

- Play a leading role in driving forward RAD’s translation and media services.

- Work for a deaf-led organisation with accessibility and deaf culture at its heart.

- Use RAD Media’s dedicated London filming studios and professional production facilities.

- Deliver creative work that makes information more accessible to deaf people.

- Work across a varied range of translation, media and commercial projects.

- Help develop new services, partnerships and opportunities for growth.

- Benefit from flexible working and ongoing professional development.

- Join an inclusive, supportive and values-driven organisation.
