Main Purpose of Job

• Support the Leadership Team in implementing the vision of the school.

• Improve attendance through hands-on approaches, including engaging with families, pupils and the wider system

• To secure the very best standards of social and emotional mental health across the school through mentoring and in - class support

• Prioritise the importance of good physical and mental health and positive learning behaviours for pupils

• Be responsive to the needs of pupils

Main Responsibilities

Support for the Pupils and Staff

• Support an ethos in which all staff are motivated and supported to develop their own skills and subject knowledge through effective communication and collaboration

• Use evidence-informed practice to support and develop emotional resilience in and outside the classroom.

• Plan and support a range of extracurricular learning opportunities.

• Contribute towards key fundraising events.

• Contribute to identifying key areas of strength and improvement with detailed

• knowledge of the school's day-to-day policies and working practices.

• Ensure that any systems implemented are fair and transparent, and promote the well-being of children

Knowledge and Understanding

• Understand the relationship between the curriculum, social and emotional learning and educational achievements

• Show an understanding of how teamwork contributes to school improvement.

• Work cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues

• Be committed to developing and maintaining positive relationships with all stakeholders: parents/ carers, teachers, the Pastoral Team and the Senior Leadership Team through regular communication

• Be committed to, and show evidence of, the promotion of equal opportunities and acceptance of responsibility for its practical applications

Skills

• Develop and maintain good relationships with all members of the school community.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Liaise with staff to identify learners who would benefit from mentoring.

• Discuss and help decide how identified needs will be addressed.

• Implement strategies and support learners in self-esteem and confidence-building activities

• Drive, energy and enthusiasm

• Ability to challenge and support colleagues

• Knowledge of teaching and the ability to design courses

• Willingness to be accountable for one's own and school decisions.

Support for the School

• To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding and child protection, health and safety, security and confidentiality, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person

• To contribute to overall ethos/work/aims of the school

• To attend and participate in regular meetings, and in training and other activities as required

• To assist in the general care of the school environment

• To assist with children at the beginning and end of the day and in the playground as required

• To undertake broadly similar duties commensurate with the level of the post as required by the
