Job Advert

West Lothian Council are currently looking to recruit supply sport and physical activity coaches to plan and deliver sessions across various schools and during holiday periods.

Planning, set-up time and holiday pay are all paid on top of the hourly rate. Opportunities exist within breakfast, lunch and after school clubs, however the premium time is directly following the end of the school day, between 3.00 - 4.30pm Monday – Thursday and 12.30 -4.00pm on a Friday. Applicants with availability across several days are preferred.

In addition, coaches are offered opportunities to support activities during holiday periods across various locations, usually running from 9am-3pm, as well as some term time sporting events. Own transport is preferable but not essential. Candidates must have a sports coaching qualification or relevant workplace experience (e.g. youth work related training, leadership training) as well as experience of working with primary school aged children.

This post is ideal for students or people looking to supplement income. Up to 10 hours are available per week during term time, with additional hours available during school holidays. Development opportunities will be available to successful candidates in the form of additional training, qualifications and individual mentor support.

We are keen to employ a diverse workforce that reflects the people of Scotland. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and particularly from groups currently under-represented, including people with disabilities, those from minority ethnic communities or from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

West Lothian Council are committed to far reaching changes to the way we deliver our Education Services. These changes include giving you the support and environment that you need to get on with your job and develop your abilities. Our dedication is demonstrated by the whole council achievement of the Investors in People Standard and always aiming a little higher in our service delivery and improvements.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
