Private Sector Housing Officer needed in North London Paying  £19.01  per hr ref 013779

Full time hours on a temporary basis

  • Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct inspections of private sector residential properties to assess housing conditions and standards.
    • Investigate complaints relating to disrepair, poor housing conditions, overcrowding, and other housing-related issues.
    • Assess properties using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) and identify hazards requiring remedial action.
    • Prepare and serve statutory notices and undertake enforcement action where necessary to secure compliance.
    • Work proactively with landlords, tenants, and property agents to resolve housing issues and improve standards.
    • Support the delivery and enforcement of property licensing schemes, including mandatory, additional, and selective licensing where applicable.
    • Investigate allegations of illegal eviction, harassment, and breaches of housing legislation.
    • Provide advice and guidance on housing standards, landlord responsibilities, tenant rights, and regulatory requirements.
    • Assist with homelessness prevention initiatives by engaging with private sector landlords and supporting access to suitable accommodation.
    • Maintain accurate case records, inspection reports, notices, and correspondence.
    • Prepare evidence and documentation for legal proceedings and attend court or tribunal hearings where required.
    • Liaise with internal departments and external agencies to ensure effective case resolution and service delivery.
    • Monitor compliance with housing legislation and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
