Role: Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
TeacherActive is currently recruiting for an experienced
Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work within a specialist school supporting
deaf and hearing-impaired children and young people in North London.
This is an excellent opportunity for an LSA who holds a
BSL Level 2 qualification or above and is passionate about helping pupils access education, develop their communication skills and become more independent.
The successful LSA will:
•
Hold a
BSL Level 2 qualification or higher – essential
•
Be confident communicating with pupils using
British Sign Language
•
Ideally have previous experience supporting
deaf or hearing-impaired pupils
•
Support pupils with their learning on a 1:1 and small-group basis
•
Work alongside teachers and specialist staff to ensure pupils can fully access the curriculum
•
Support pupils' communication, social interaction and independence
•
Be patient, adaptable and confident building positive relationships with young people
•
Have a genuine interest in supporting pupils with additional communication needs
The ideal candidate will have:
•
BSL Level 2, Level 3 or higher
•
Previous experience as an LSA, Teaching Assistant or SEND Support Worker
•
Experience within a school, specialist provision or deaf education setting
•
A calm, positive and inclusive approach
•
A strong understanding of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
