Summary
Wirral University Teaching Hospital (WUTH) runs outpatient services across sites like Arrowe Park Hospital, Victoria Central Hospital and Clatterbridge Hospital. Clinical Support Workers (CSW) are responsible for providing healthcare to patients and supporting with basic clinical duties under the supervision of Registered Nurses, doctors and other registered healthcare professionals.
Their role is essential in ensuring the well-being and comfort of patients during their hospital admission ensuring they receive high quality care. Clinical Support Worker are required to work within the multidisciplinary team ensuring the department is a safe, clean and welcoming place for patients, visitors and staff.
Day to day tasks will primarily include supporting with a range of personal care activities, supporting individual patient needs and undertaking a range of clinical duties in line with personal training, competence levels and Trust policy. CSW’s are fundamental to the implementation of individual patient care plans and will work under the direction of registered professionals and other members of the multidisciplinary
team to deliver quality patient care. In addition to supporting with personal and clinical care, CSW’s may be required to support
with a range of basic housekeeping and administrative duties to maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Provide and support patients as necessary with both personal and clinical care activities.
• Maintain accurate records of the patient’s care, documenting as appropriate on the Electronic Patient Record (Cerner)
• Observe patients and reports any changes to a Registered professional for review.
• Report any abnormal findings directly to the registered professional in charge or doctor.
• Undertake a range of basic housekeeping, stock control and administrative duties within the clinical environment.
• Communicate clearly with patients, carers, relatives and all members of the multidisciplinary team, sharing information where appropriate in line with Trust policy.
• Create a welcoming and safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.
• Communicate effectively within the multi-disciplinary team and other departments to ensure that patient care is well planned and coordinated.
• Provide appropriate updates to both patients and relatives in relation to their care, referring any clinical enquiries regarding clinical care to an appropriate registered professional.
• Respond to phone calls & any enquiries in a courteous and confident manner and being aware when to escalate matters appropriately.
• Undertake a range of delegated clinical duties relevant to the speciality and your current training and competence profile
• To accurately and promptly carry out the instructions of the registered professional who is professionally accountable for the delivery of care.
