Thrive Education Group is working with a welcoming primary school in Huyton looking for a practical and dependable School Caretaker to take responsibility for the day-to-day care of its site.
This could be a great move if you already work in caretaking, maintenance, facilities, property services or another hands-on role and would like the stability and community of working within a school.
You don't necessarily need previous school experience. What matters is that you're practical, organised, reliable and someone who notices when something needs doing - and gets it sorted.
A Role With Plenty of Variety - No two days in a school are quite the same.
You'll be the person helping to make sure the building is safe, secure, functional and ready for pupils and staff each day.
That could mean:
- Tackling minor repairs and general DIY.
- Checking the building, playgrounds, paths and grounds.
- Spotting maintenance problems before they become bigger ones.
- Opening and securing the school when required.
- Monitoring heating, lighting, water and other building services.
- Managing keys, access and site security.
- Keeping external areas safe and well maintained.
- Arranging access and liaising with contractors.
- Supporting health and safety checks and site compliance.
- Setting up rooms or facilities for events and activities.
- Responding when an unexpected maintenance issue crops up.
- Keeping straightforward maintenance and inspection records.
You'll have responsibility for managing your workload and prioritising what needs attention, while working closely with the school's leadership and wider team.
Could Your Experience Transfer Into A School?
We're interested in hearing from people from a range of practical backgrounds.
You may already be a School Caretaker or Site Manager, or your experience could come from facilities, property maintenance, housing, construction, trades, estates or another hands-on environment.
You'll need:
- Good general maintenance and DIY skills.
- The confidence to identify and deal with everyday site issues.
- A proactive, practical approach.
- Good organisation and the ability to prioritise.
- Reliability and the ability to work independently.
- Good communication skills when dealing with staff, contractors and visitors.
- An understanding of workplace health and safety.
- A responsible approach to security and safeguarding.
Previous school experience is useful, but it isn't essential.
