Summary

What's involved with this role:

Triumph Consultants are looking for a Principal Accountant to support the Council’s financial management, including budget preparation and monitoring, final accounts, statutory returns and senior financial advice. Contract is for 2 months in Warwickshire CV32 7NP.

Pay Rate: £28.62 per hour PAYE

Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, 9:00-17:00

Contract length: 2 months

Key requirements:

• CCAB qualified accountant with at least 3 years’ relevant post-qualification public sector finance experience, or significant public sector experience with Senior AAT/part-qualified CCAB.

• Strong knowledge of local government finance, accounting codes, legislation and regulations.

• Confident using financial management systems and creating/managing complex spreadsheets.

• Experience working with senior officers, Members, external organisations and External Audit.

• Able to manage competing priorities, work independently and deliver accurate work to strict deadlines.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead the preparation, monitoring and reporting of Council budgets, ensuring statutory and financial requirements are met.

• Produce the annual Statement of Accounts and high-quality audit working papers within statutory deadlines.

• Provide senior financial advice to Members and officers, including the financial implications of proposals and decisions.

• Support statutory returns, grant claims and specialist areas such as treasury/capital, revenue budgets, housing accounts, financial systems or projects.

• Help develop financial systems and processes, manage relevant staff and deputise for the Strategic Finance Manager when required.
