Hays Education are currently recruiting for a reliable and proactive
Caretaker to join a welcoming SEN school in Chester on a temporary basis until Christmas.
This is a full-time role working across the school site, helping to ensure the premises remain safe, secure, clean and well-maintained for pupils, staff and visitors. The successful candidate will be practical, hands-on and capable of managing a varied workload in a busy school environment.
Your new role
- Opening and securing areas of the school site as required
- Carrying out general maintenance and basic repairs
- Ensuring the school grounds and buildings are safe, clean and presentable
- Setting up rooms and facilities for meetings, events and school activities
- Conducting routine health and safety checks
- Monitoring contractors and deliveries on site
- Responding promptly to maintenance issues and site-related requests
- Supporting the wider school team with day-to-day site duties
What you'll need to succeed
- Previous caretaker, site supervisor, facilities or maintenance experience
- Experience working within a school environment is desirable
- Good understanding of health and safety procedures
- Ability to work independently and use initiative
- Practical DIY and maintenance skills
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
