The Opportunity
We are supporting an organisation delivering renewable energy and electrical installations across
Suffolk and Cambridgeshire and are looking for an enthusiastic
Apprentice Electrician to join their team.
You will work alongside experienced electricians and gain practical experience across
solar PV installations, heat pump systems and general electrical work, while completing your apprenticeship training at a local college.
The role offers the opportunity to develop practical electrical skills while building a career in the growing renewable energy and low-carbon sector.
Important to Know
- This is a practical, hands-on apprenticeship
- The role will have a particular focus on solar installations and heat pump systems
- You will also gain experience across general electrical work
Location: Suffolk / Cambridgeshire
Hours: Monday to Friday
College: One day per week on release to a local college
Salary: Living Wage Employer
Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside experienced electricians on domestic and/or commercial electrical installations.
- Assist with solar PV installation work.
- Support electrical work associated with heat pump installations.
- Assist with general electrical installation, maintenance and repair activities.
- Prepare tools, materials and equipment for work.
- Follow instructions from experienced electricians and supervisors.
- Learn to use electrical tools and equipment safely.
- Maintain clean and organised work areas.
- Follow health and safety procedures and safe working practices.
- Attend college one day per week as part of the apprenticeship.
- Develop practical and technical electrical skills through on-the-job training.
Essential Requirements
- Some GCSEs or equivalent.
- Genuine interest in becoming a qualified electrician.
- Willingness to learn and develop practical skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable and punctual approach to work.
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely.
- Commitment to attending college and completing the apprenticeship programme.
Desirable
- Any previous practical, construction, electrical or engineering experience.
- Relevant work experience or work placement.
- Interest in renewable energy, solar PV or heat pump technology.
- Any relevant electrical or technical qualification.
