Who are you looking for?
We are looking for a highly motivated and committed Housing Options Advisor to join our very busy Housing Needs Service.
You must have highly effective interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate effectively at all levels & personal resilience to working with challenging people.
To be successful in this post you will need to be highly organised, able to work within strict deadlines and have good IT skills.
What will be expected from me?
- You will deliver housing options advice and support to some of the districts most vulnerable & excluded households. You will need good knowledge of the housing options available within the district, homelessness legislation and have a good working knowledge of effective assessment techniques
What I might be doing?
- To interview homeless applicants and gather relevant information regarding their homelessness
- To ensure that all homeless applicants have had their circumstances fully assessed
- To make relevant third-party enquiries and obtain information to help establish details of the case.
- To manage a case load ensuring that appropriate work is undertaken to prevent homelessness and to help move on from temporary accommodation.
- To provide homeless applicants with a full appraisal of their situation providing realistic and assertive but sensitive housing options advice
- To complete Personal Housing Plans to identify the actions needed to help resolve homelessness
