Summary

JIJ Europe Ltd is the UK subsidiary of JIJ Inc., a Tokyo-based deep-tech company founded in 2018 that develops a quantum- and AI-enabled optimisation platform. JIJ has delivered more than 60 commercial use cases across manufacturing, logistics, transport, telecommunications, energy, materials and the public sector.

Established in 2025 and based at the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire, JIJ Europe is a member of UKQuantum and works closely with UK and European partners, universities, research institutes and government organisations on the practical application of optimisation and quantum technologies.

We are looking for a Business Research Analyst to plan and carry out research on markets, customers, partners, competitors and public funding programmes across the UK and EU, and to turn that research into reports, data and recommendations that inform JIJ's business strategy and commercial decisions.

Main responsibilities

• Plan and conduct market research and industry analysis for the UK and EU, including market size, trends, segmentation, competitor analysis and technology benchmarking

• Produce research reports and evidence-based recommendations for senior management

• Research and profile prospective customers and evaluate partnership and consortium opportunities with universities, research institutes, government bodies and technology partners

• Prepare briefing papers and analysis to support customer meetings and commercial discussions

• Research UK and EU government-funded programmes, grants and public-sector initiatives; analyse eligibility and success factors and provide research input for grant proposals

• Collect, maintain and analyse business data (sales pipeline, KPIs) using the company CRM, and produce regular management reports, dashboards and forecasts

• Conduct market intelligence reviews and report findings to the Japan headquarters and UK/EU management

• Present research findings at internal meetings and, where appropriate, at conferences, exhibitions and business events

• Prepare presentation materials, company profiles and marketing collateral based on research outputs

• Support research-related projects, including documentation, contract records and invoicing, and coordinate with team members in the UK, EU, US and Japan

What we are looking for

• Demonstrable experience of research, analysis or business intelligence work

• Strong data-gathering, analytical and report-writing skills

• Confident communicator in English

• Fluent written and spoken Japanese, as the role requires regular communication with our head office in Japan

• Proficient with CRM, spreadsheet and presentation tools; familiarity with Notion and Slack desirable

• Strong communication, organisational, negotiation and relationship-building skills

• Ability to work independently in a small, fast-growing team

Thank you for your interest. Due to the volume of applications, we are only able to respond to candidates who match our requirements.
