Summary
The Salaried GP will provide high-quality, patient-centred care to the practice population, delivering safe and effective clinical services across a range of settings. The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to manage acute and chronic medical conditions, promote health and wellbeing, contribute to service development and support the delivery of contractual requirements. The role includes routine and urgent clinical care, clinical administration, participation in the Duty GP rota and involvement in quality improvement activities. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Clinical Duties Deliver high-quality, patient-centred care through face-to-face, telephone and online consultations. Assess, diagnose and manage a wide range of acute, chronic and complex medical conditions. Develop and implement appropriate management and treatment plans. Prescribe safely and effectively in accordance with local and national prescribing guidance. Manage patients with long-term conditions in collaboration with the wider clinical team. Provide preventative healthcare advice and support health promotion initiatives. Undertake home visits where clinically appropriate. Provide care in accordance with GMC standards and evidence-based clinical guidelines. Maintain awareness of safeguarding responsibilities and act in accordance with local policies. Clinical Administration Review and action pathology results in a timely manner. Process incoming clinical correspondence, hospital letters and discharge summaries. Review and authorise repeat medication requests where appropriate. Complete medical reports, forms and other associated documentation as required. Ensure all clinical records are accurate, comprehensive and contemporaneous. Use EMIS Web effectively and in accordance with information governance requirements. Duty GP Responsibilities Participate in the practice Duty GP rota. Manage urgent same-day patient demand. Provide clinical advice and support to clinicians and administrative staff. Triage urgent clinical requests and determine appropriate pathways of care. Support safe patient flow and effective utilisation of practice resources. Multidisciplinary Working Work collaboratively with Practice Nurses, Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs), Healthcare Assistants (HCAs), Clinical Pharmacists, Care Coordinators and Social Prescribers. Support team-based care and contribute to effective communication across the organisation. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions. Provide clinical leadership and support to colleagues where appropriate. Quality, Governance and Service Development Contribute to the achievement of Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) targets. Support delivery of Enhanced Services and other contractual requirements. Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement projects and service development initiatives. Engage in significant event analysis and learning activities. Support safeguarding, infection prevention and information governance processes. Maintain awareness of NHS and primary care developments relevant to General Practice. Professional Responsibilities Maintain full GMC registration and a licence to practise. Participate in annual appraisal and GMC revalidation. Undertake continuing professional development (CPD) and mandatory training. Comply with all practice policies, procedures and clinical governance requirements. Act in accordance with the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion. Maintain confidentiality in line with GDPR, NHS guidance and professional standards.
