South Hampshire College Group is seeking an organised, proactive and detail-focused Governance Officer to join our Governance team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the Corporation, its Committees and subsidiary boards, ensuring the highest standards of governance across the College Group.
Working closely with the Director of Governance, you will provide comprehensive administrative and organisational support to governance activities, helping to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and the effective operation of the College Group's governance framework.

Duties:
- Provide the efficient co-ordination and administration of governance matters to support the Director of Governance, the Corporation, its Committees and any College Group subsidiary companies.
- Deliver organisational and administrative aspects of board/committee meetings, seminars and governance events, including updating meeting calendars and arranging room/IT/AV/parking/ hospitality/online facilities etc. This may include meeting and greeting attendees at events.
- Support the review, formatting, approval and publication of College Group policies and the maintenance of the policies register and document libraries, liaising with policy owners and providing advice as relevant.
- To take responsibility for the accurate updating and review of governance elements of the public website ensuring the meeting of legal /regulatory requirements for publishing of information.
- Develop, maintain and review effective filing systems for records, archives and public access information in line with policies and retention schedules.
- This role offers the potential, for the right candidate, to develop towards deputising for the Director of Governance, as required and in accordance with constitutional requirements. This would include providing professional support and procedural advice to College Group boards and committees, and assisting governors/directors as required.
Skills/experience:
- Highly motivated administrator with good understanding of Governance
- Experience in a relevant governance role e.g. clerk, local government and or democratic services essential
- Experience of working within the education sector is desirable.
- Good organisational skills with ability to organise own workload and able to work collaboratively within a team.
- Good standard of computer literacy and have knowledge of Microsoft office packages.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to include; communication, adaptability and flexibility.
Qualifications:
- Minimum GCSE grade 4 / C in English & Maths or equivalent.
- Level 2 qualification in business administration or equivalent.
- Relevant degree and/or appropriate qualifications is desirable.
