The Role
We are supporting a public sector organisation in securing an experienced Contracts & Procurement Lawyer to join their Legal Services function. This role will play a key part in delivering high quality commercial legal advice across a broad portfolio of contractual, procurement and commercial matters. Working under the direction of senior legal colleagues, you will help drive service excellence, support organisational priorities, and ensure robust, compliant legal practice.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high quality legal advice and support across commercial contracts, procurement matters and wider commercial activity, as directed by senior legal colleagues.
Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of legal documentation including contracts, grants, service level agreements, multi authority agreements and bespoke commercial arrangements.
Support legal work relating to construction, building, maintenance and project related matters.
Provide advice and assistance on contractual and procurement disputes, breaches and risk related issues.
Represent the Legal Services function at meetings, inquiries, appeals and other forums as required.
Undertake legal research, maintain up to date knowledge of relevant legislation, and contribute to continuous service improvement.
Build strong working relationships across the organisation, supporting a collaborative business partnering approach.
You Will Need (Essential Requirements)
Qualified Solicitor (SRA), Barrister (England & Wales) or Chartered Legal Executive.
Strong experience in commercial contracts, procurement and construction related matters.
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver high quality work at pace.
Competent in drafting, administrative tasks and use of Microsoft Office applications.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and expanding knowledge across commercial legal areas.
Desirable Experience
Experience of developing junior legal staff.
Experience using time recording or case management systems.
Previous experience working within a local government legal environment.
