Location: Birmingham, B29
Weekly Pay: £480-£520
Hours: Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)

Long Term Futures are seeking an experienced and compassionate EYFS / Reception Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the B29 area of Birmingham.
This is a full-time role with a strong focus on 1:1 SEN support within Reception. You will support a pupil with ASD and communication needs, helping them engage with learning, develop their communication skills and become increasingly independent within the classroom environment.
The successful candidate will have previous experience supporting non-verbal or pre-verbal pupils and be confident using communication strategies such as Makaton and/or PECS.
Responsibilities
- Provide consistent 1:1 SEN support within Reception
- Support a pupil with ASD and communication needs
- Support the development of communication, interaction and social skills
- Use Makaton, PECS and visual communication strategies where appropriate
- Adapt EYFS activities to meet the pupil's individual needs
- Use structured routines, visual timetables and sensory strategies
- Encourage independence, confidence and engagement with learning
- Support the pupil with transitions and daily classroom routines
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider EYFS team
- Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
What the School is Looking For
- Strong 1:1 SEN experience within EYFS or KS1
- Experience supporting non-verbal or pre-verbal pupils
- Knowledge and practical experience of Makaton and/or PECS
- Experience supporting pupils with ASD and communication needs
- Previous experience within an SEN or resource hub would be ideal
- Good understanding of the EYFS curriculum
- A patient, nurturing and consistent approach
- Available to start immediately
