Job Purpose
To provide an efficient laundry service, ensuring that residents' clothing, bedding, and linen are cleaned, dried, ironed, and returned promptly while maintaining high standards of hygiene, infection prevention, and dignity.
The Laundry Assistant plays an important role in ensuring residents have access to clean clothing and linen, contributing to their comfort, wellbeing, and quality of life.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Laundry Duties
Sort, wash, dry, iron, and fold residents' clothing and household linen.
Ensure all clothing and linen are appropriately labelled.
Return residents' clothing to the correct rooms promptly.
Handle personal clothing with care and respect.
Report damaged or unidentified clothing to management.
Infection Prevention and Control
Follow infection control procedures at all times.
Safely handle soiled and contaminated laundry.
Use PPE appropriately.
Ensure laundry equipment is cleaned and maintained in accordance with procedures.
Health and Safety
Operate laundry equipment safely.
Report faults or maintenance concerns immediately.
Follow COSHH requirements when handling cleaning chemicals and detergents.
Maintain a clean and safe laundry environment.
Resident Care and Dignity
Respect residents' privacy, dignity, and personal belongings.
Develop positive and professional relationships with residents and visitors.
Be courteous and respectful at all times.
General Responsibilities
Assist housekeeping staff when required.
Maintain adequate stocks of laundry supplies.
Follow all Ashley Court Care Home policies and procedures.
Attend mandatory training and staff meetings as required.
