Summary

We are seeking to appoint a Consultant Radiologist with a special interest in breast imaging to join our friendly and dynamic team at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust.

Due to the increasing workload in our Bolton Breast Unit, we are looking to expand our clinical team and grow our services. The successful candidate will be based at the Royal Bolton Hospital.

Applicants must have full registration with the GMC with FRCR (or equivalent) and be registered with the GMC Specialist Register or be within six months of obtaining their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at the date of interview. NHS experience as a consultant radiologist would be preferred.

We are looking for a motivated consultant radiologist to join our team of Consultant Radiologists and Breast Advanced Practitioners.

Bolton Breast Unit is located in the main hospital and is equipped with Mammography, Tomosynthesis, ultrasound and all relevant breast interventions including 7G VAE. We are in the process of setting up Contrast Enhanced Mammography.

The unit is providing one stop/new patient clinics for new referrals, assessments from the National Breast Screening Service and follow-up clinics. Bolton Breast Screening unit covers Bolton, Rochdale and Bury.

We run Breast Multidisciplinary meetings having good working relationships with Surgical and Oncological specialties and actively supporting clinical research and training activities.

RADIOLOGY DEPARTMENT

Radiology and Breast Imaging forms part of the Diagnostic and Support Services Division alongsideLaboratoryMedicine, Pharmacy andOutpatientServices. The specialty structure consists of a Clinical Lead (Consultant Radiologist), Operational Business manager and Lead Radiographers/ Sonographers. This structure is reflected at all levels within the organisation. Theleadership teamfunctions together as a cohesive unit to set the tone for each specialty and is jointly responsible forquality, performance,financeand workforce.

We hold Radiology Governance meetings and RadiologyConsultants meetingschaired by the Governance and ClinicalLeadrespectively.

The successful candidate will join our team and work in the screening assessment clinics and symptomatic new patient clinics. You will attend and present in the Breast multidisciplinary meetings. Bolton Breast Unit actively participates in training and we regularly have Breast registrars, trainee mammographers and medical students.

The Breast radiology commitment will include screening film reading, breast ultrasound, breast MRI and CT work. Other subspecialty interests will be accommodated within the job plan. A full-time contract will include 1.5 Programmed Activities (PAs) for Supporting Professional Activities and 1 PA for 7 day working (1 in 16 joining the Registrar on-call rota).

Upon taking up the post, the successful candidate will agree a job plan and work programme; the actual timetable is open to negotiation and will be decided by mutual agreement. A commitment to working flexibly within the 7-day service will be expected.

Annual appraisal, participation in clinical audit, and continuing professional development are contractual requirements.
