What We're Looking For
• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or equivalent
• Previous leadership or management experience within a children's residential setting
• Experienced Deputy Manager looking to progress into a Registered Manager position will also be considered
• Strong knowledge of legislation, regulations and guidance relating to children's homes
• Understanding of child development, attachment theory, trauma-informed practice and therapeutic approaches
• Strong leadership and people management skills
• Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, care planning and risk management
• Commitment to promoting the welfare, rights and best interests of children and young people
• Ability to build positive relationships with external agencies and professionals
Key Roles & Responsibilities
• Take overall responsibility for the management and day-to-day operation of the solo complex care home
• Provide strong leadership, direction and support to the staff team
• Oversee recruitment, training, supervision and performance management
• Ensure the home provides a safe, nurturing and supportive environment
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding, child welfare and care delivery
• Develop and oversee individual care plans and risk assessments
• Ensure children's individual needs, rights and wishes are recognised and supported
• Maintain full compliance with Ofsted requirements and relevant children's home regulations
• Prepare the home for Ofsted inspections and ensure all records and evidence are maintained to a high standard
• Address any recommendations or areas for improvement and drive continuous improvement
• Build strong working relationships with local authorities, social workers, healthcare professionals, schools and other agencies
• Coordinate multi-agency support to ensure positive outcomes for the young person
• Monitor and evaluate the quality of care provided
• Promote a culture of learning, reflection and best practice within the team
• Develop and implement effective policies, procedures and systems to support the successful operation of the home
• Advocate for the needs and best interests of the young person at all times
