The Opportunity

A leading resource recovery and waste management organisation is looking for a commercially driven

Business Development Manager to support new customer growth across Yorkshire.

This is a field-based B2B sales role focused on generating new business, building a sales pipeline, meeting decision-makers and winning new customer accounts.

You will be responsible for identifying opportunities, presenting waste and recycling solutions, closing new business and developing the customer relationships you bring on board.

The role would suit a confident and resilient salesperson who enjoys prospecting, working to targets and building opportunities from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate new business through B2B canvassing within your territory
  • Build and manage a strong pipeline of prospective customers
  • Book and attend appointments with key decision-makers
  • Present waste and recycling solutions clearly and commercially
  • Manage inbound enquiries and convert suitable opportunities
  • Upsell and cross-sell additional services
  • Pre-qualify opportunities and support successful credit approval
  • Complete client site risk assessments and site audits
  • Support the onboarding and implementation of new customer services
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and sales activity
  • Monitor competitor activity and market trends
  • Attend regional networking events
  • Complete weekly KPI reporting
  • Attend regular sales meetings
  • Work closely with Sales Administration, Service and Operations teams
  • Manage your diary effectively and respond to helpdesk queries within agreed SLAs

What We're Looking For

  • Proven B2B sales experience, ideally selling service contracts
  • Experience generating new business and prospecting
  • Confidence with door-to-door canvassing and appointment booking
  • Experience in telemarketing, outbound sales or lead generation
  • Proven experience working towards sales targets and KPIs
  • Strong commercial motivation and resilience
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong organisation and diary management
  • Confident using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Waste industry experience would be advantageous
