Salary: £28,000–£35,000 per annum, depending on experience

Hours: 8:30am – 4:30pm
Luma Education Recruitment is recruiting for a Primary Teacher to join Safe Start School, an independent SEND provision in Ashton-under-Lyne supporting young people with additional educational and SEMH needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Primary Teacher looking to move into specialist education and work within a small, supportive setting where teachers can build strong relationships with their pupils.
Safe Start works with pupils with SEND and SEMH needs, with small classes of up to around five pupils and Teaching Assistant support. The school follows a primary-style teaching model, with the class teacher delivering a broad curriculum and adapting learning around individual needs and EHCP outcomes.
The Role
You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, personalised lessons across a broad range of subjects, supporting pupils academically, socially and emotionally.
The role would suit a Primary Teacher who enjoys small-group teaching, personalised learning and working closely with pupils who require additional support.
You will:
Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons
Teach across a broad curriculum using a primary-style model
Support pupils with SEND and SEMH needs
Adapt learning to individual abilities, needs and EHCP outcomes
Teach small classes with Teaching Assistant support
Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development
Monitor progress and contribute to assessment and individual targets
Work closely with colleagues, families and other professionals where appropriate
Promote positive behaviour, engagement and independence
About You
The school is looking for an enthusiastic and committed teacher with:
QTS and a recognised teaching qualification
Experience teaching within a Primary setting
A strong understanding of the National Curriculum
A patient, nurturing and adaptable approach
Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
The ability to differentiate learning effectively
Experience supporting pupils with SEND and/or SEMH needs is desirable
A genuine commitment to supporting young people to achieve their potential
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
