Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic Specialist Clinical Psychologist keen to develop a career in neuropsychology, to provide 12 months’ parental leave cover.

This post offers an excellent foundation for developing specialist neuropsychology skills within the friendly and supportive Clinical Health Psychology and Neuropsychology Department at Charing Cross Hospital, part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and including the Northwest London Regional Neurosciences Centre.

The role includes specialist neuropsychological assessment and intervention within our outpatient service, which receives referrals from a wide range of neurology and neurosurgery clinics including cognitive disorders and dementia, traumatic brain injury, movement disorders, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, neuro-oncology, infectious diseases and general neurology. There are also opportunities to contribute to exciting service development initiatives. Weekly supervision is provided by a senior Clinical Neuropsychologist.

The post holder will provide comprehensive neuropsychological assessment and formulation for patients presenting with a wide range of neurological disorders referred from specialist neurology and neurosurgery clinics. The role requires experience of neuropsychological assessment, a high level of attention to detail and an ability to assimilate information from a range of sources to arrive at a neuropsychological formulation of a patient’s current difficulties and presentation.

The post holder will also contribute to the delivery of a specialist intervention pathway providing psychological interventions for patients presenting with mental health difficulties associated with Parkinson’s disease, as well as supporting the development of new evidence-based intervention pathways for other groups of neurological patients.

In addition to direct clinical assessment and intervention, thepost provides opportunities for involvement in service development, staff consultation and training, and research and audit.
