This job is workstyle 5 - Hybrid

You will have the opportunity to benefit from our flexible and agile working practices. This means you will work from home for part of your week and spend some time in council buildings to best suit your work, meetings and collaboration.

In this role, you'll lead the Council's development planning, placemaking, climate change and nature action work, helping to create places where people, nature and business can thrive together. Working with communities, elected members, colleagues and partners, you'll play a key role in delivering sustainable growth, supporting biodiversity and creating positive change across Angus.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact. You'll lead the preparation of the Angus Local Development Plan, drive place-based projects and strategies, and help deliver our environmental, climate and nature ambitions.

What You'll Do:

Lead the Angus Local Development Plan and help shape the future of our communities.

Work with the Service Leader to champion placemaking and support the creation of attractive, inclusive and sustainable places.

Work collaboratively with communities, partners and elected members to plan and deliver on regeneration projects and place-based initiatives.

Lead climate change, environmental and nature action programmes, helping to reduce emissions, enhance biodiversity and build resilience.

Identify opportunities to protect, restore and connect natural habitats while supporting sustainable development.

Provide strategic advice and represent Angus Council at regional and national levels.

Inspire and support your teams to deliver high-quality services and continuous improvement.

You'll bring:

Experience in development planning, placemaking, regeneration, environmental management, nature recovery or a related area.

Strong leadership and partnership-working skills.

A good understanding of Scotland's planning system and the role it plays in supporting sustainable places and nature-positive outcomes.

The ability to build relationships, influence others and turn ideas into action.

A commitment to sustainability, biodiversity, innovation and delivering positive outcomes for communities.
