Summary

The post-holder will join a dedicated team of six Plastic Surgeons with responsibility for trauma care, including reconstructive surgery of both the upper and lower limbs, as well as contributing to the Oxford Major Trauma Centre. The role will also include responsibility for general plastic surgery services at the John Radcliffe Hospital, alongside participation in the on-call rota (currently 1 in 14). The Department of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery provides a comprehensive reconstructive service to Oxford and the surrounding region. The service is consultant-led. Current consultant-delivered services include trauma and reconstructive surgery, craniofacial surgery, cleft lip and palate, upper limb surgery, bone infection, sarcoma, breast reconstruction, skin cancer, autologous tissue transplantation, head and neck cancer reconstruction, and hypospadias. The department currently holds Burn Facility status within the London and South-East Burn Network. We are fortunate to have co-located facilities within a modern building on the John Radcliffe Hospital site, including offices, outpatient clinics, theatres, adult and paediatric wards, and day case units. The Head and Neck Unit is based within the Cancer Centre at the nearby Churchill Hospital. The department also has a significant presence at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre (NOC), where the plastic surgery team contributes to hand surgery, and provides reconstructive support to both the Bone Infection Unit and Sarcoma services.
