SEND Teaching Assistant - Daily Supply
Brent & Surrounding Areas
ASAP Start | Flexible Daily Work | PAYE
Daily supply isn't for everyone.
But if you like variety, adapt quickly and enjoy working with different children, teams and SEND settings, it can offer exactly the flexibility you're looking for.
We're recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants for daily supply cover across Brent and surrounding areas, supporting primary and secondary schools when they need additional staff.
You tell us when you're available. We match you with suitable work.
And you're paid weekly through PAYE - no umbrella company and no self-employed arrangements.
One day you might be supporting an autistic pupil in a primary classroom.
Another could involve working with a small secondary group, helping a pupil with ADHD remain engaged or providing additional support for children with SEMH or learning difficulties.
Because you're covering different settings, you'll need to be comfortable arriving somewhere new, listening to the school team and quickly understanding where you're most useful.
Depending on the placement, you could be:
- Supporting a pupil one-to-one
- Working with small SEND groups
- Helping pupils access classroom activities
- Reinforcing learning and targeted interventions
- Supporting communication and social interaction
- Using agreed behaviour and emotional-regulation strategies
- Helping pupils manage transitions and routines
- Working alongside teachers, SENCOs and other support staff
You won't be expected to walk in knowing everything about every pupil.
You will be expected to ask the right questions, follow the school's guidance and provide calm, professional support from the outset.
The people who thrive in supply tend to be adaptable, confident and unfazed by change.
You'll need to build rapport quickly while understanding that every school - and every pupil - may do things slightly differently.
We're particularly interested in candidates who have:
- Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND
- Experience within primary and/or secondary education
- Knowledge of needs such as Autism, ADHD, SEMH and learning difficulties
- A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification
- Strong communication skills
- A calm and patient approach
- The confidence to work with different teams and environments
- A strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
Daily supply can suit people for all sorts of reasons.
You might want to work several days every week without committing to one school. You may need work that fits around other responsibilities. Or perhaps you'd like to experience different settings before deciding where you want to work longer term.
Whatever your reason, you'll have access to:
- Flexible daily SEND work across Brent and surrounding areas
- Weekly PAYE pay
- No umbrella or self-employed arrangements
- Support from an experienced education recruitment team
- Retail, travel and gym membership discounts
- Wellbeing support through the dedicated pay portal
- Opportunities to move into long-term or permanent roles
