Second in Charge of English to join its successful English department. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented practitioner who is passionate about raising achievement, developing outstanding teaching and learning, and supporting students to achieve their full potential.

Working closely with the Head of English, you will play a key role in shaping curriculum development, driving academic excellence, and contributing to the strategic leadership of a high-performing department.

The Role

As Second in Charge of English, you will:

• Support the leadership and management of a successful English department.

• Deliver engaging and inspiring English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to teach Key Stage 5.

• Drive improvements in teaching, learning, and student outcomes.

• Mentor and support colleagues, including ECTs and developing teachers.

• Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental innovation.

• Help foster a culture of high expectations and academic success.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will:

• Hold QTS and a relevant English qualification.

• Be an outstanding classroom practitioner with a proven track record of strong student outcomes.

• Have the ambition and leadership potential to support and develop a successful department.

• Be passionate about literature, language, and literacy across the curriculum.

• Demonstrate excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.

• Be committed to ensuring every student achieves their very best.
