Hays are recruiting on behalf of an established Building Services consultancy that delivers a wide range of projects across the commercial, healthcare, education and industrial sectors. Due to an increase in workload, they are looking to appoint an Electrical Design Engineer on a contract basis to support project delivery.

Your new role

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and coordination of electrical building services systems across a variety of projects. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to projects from concept design through to detailed design and construction support.The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with a preference for three days per week in the office, although flexibility can be discussed for the right candidate.Your responsibilities will include:

Producing electrical building services designs and calculations.

Designing lighting, small power, fire alarm and associated electrical systems.

Preparing specifications, schedules and technical reports.

Coordinating designs with mechanical engineers, architects and other stakeholders.

Attending project and client meetings.

Supporting project delivery through all design stages.

Undertaking site surveys and inspections where required.

What you'll need to succeed

Experience delivering electrical building services design projects.

Background within either a Building Services consultancy or M&E contracting environment.

Working knowledge of relevant design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech and Dialux.

Understanding of UK Building Regulations and industry standards.

Strong communication and coordination skills.

Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is desirable but not essential.
