Lewis Street Primary School is seeking to appoint a highly organised, proactive and detail-oriented Finance and Administration Officer to play a key role in the day-to-day financial management of our school.

Working closely with the Executive Headteacher and Executive School Business Manager, you will provide high-quality financial and administrative support, helping to ensure the efficient operation of the school and contributing to the best possible outcomes for our pupils.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional who enjoys working in a busy school environment. The successful candidate will take responsibility for a range of financial processes, ensuring accurate record keeping, compliance with statutory requirements and effective budget monitoring.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and monitoring the school's budget throughout the year.
  • Maintaining financial records, bank reconciliations and VAT returns.
  • Processing orders, invoices and payments.
  • Recording and monitoring income relating to school trips, clubs and other activities.
  • Supporting the preparation of year-end financial information.
  • Preparing financial reports and attending Governors' Finance Committee meetings.
  • Supporting Governors with School Financial Value Standard (SFVS) requirements.
  • Liaising with auditors, accountants and external agencies.
  • Managing financial aspects of educational visits and the Year 6 residential programme.
  • Providing administrative support relating to governance, health and safety and HR when required.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of financial administration, budgeting and record keeping.
  • Demonstrates excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Has strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Can work independently whilst also contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is confident using IT systems and financial software.
  • Understands the importance of confidentiality and professional integrity.
  • Is committed to supporting the wider life and ethos of the school.
