Come and make memories at Whinfell School. There’s much more to this job than meets the eye…
One evening you might be baking, playing football or settling down for a fiercely competitive board-game tournament. The next, you could be go-karting, bowling, exploring a splatter room, playing laser quest or enjoying the arcades.
As a Team Leader, you'll be right at the core of the home. You'll support the young people we care for, guide the team on shift and help make sure every day runs efficiently.
The School:
At Whinfell School, our Residential Support Workers help autistic young people aged 7–19 to enjoy full, happy and meaningful lives. You’ll create opportunities, build confidence, encourage independence and provide the consistent care that helps each young person feel safe, understood and valued.
Of course, the role also involves responsibility, patience and resilience. You’ll be leading and supporting your team during shift, and making sure everyone works together. But at the heart of it all is something very special: building trusting relationships and creating experiences our young people will remember.
As a Team Leader you will:
- Lead by example and lead shifts when required
- Assist with rota management where required
- Observe and monitor the wellbeing of the individuals we support
- To provide appropriate physical and emotional support to young people in residence through the work of a team of care staff within a residential environment.
- Effective management of a team, which involves motivating, coaching, managing performance via probation/appraisal and auditing the quality of care.
This role is critical in ensuring that ‘The Children’s Home Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards’ are exceeded. It also provides the opportunity to develop and improve practice.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Level 3 RQF Child and Young Person’s Workforce qualification or equivalent (Essential)
- Proven supervisory experience in a leadership role
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with team members and clients
- Ability to develop and implement care plans tailored to individual needs
- Valid driving license and experience in driving, particularly in a care home setting
- Familiarity with IT systems to support operational efficiency in senior care environments
If you’re looking for work with purpose, variety and plenty of memorable moments, we’d love to hear from you.
