Job Advert: Teaching AssistantRole: Teaching AssistantLocation: Minehead Middle SchoolStart Date: ASAPClosing Date: 29.09.2026Interview Date: w/c 05.10.2026Grade: 1 SCP 3 - 4 (£25,614.00 - £26,016 FTE)Hours of Work: 8.45am – 3.45pm32.5 hours per week, 5 days a weekTerm time and 5 inset days Purpose of the role:Working under the direct instruction of teaching and senior staff, you will be based primarily in the classroom alongside the teacher to support access to learning for pupils and assist with classroom management.As part of our wider inclusion ethos, you will play a key role in providing high-quality support that helps remove barriers to learning, supports emotional, social, and academic progress, and ensures every pupil feels safe, valued, and included.Key Responsibilities• Supporting Pupils: Supervise and assist students to ensure their safety and access to learning, encouraging them to interact positively with others and act independently.• Personal & Welfare Support: Attend to pupils’ personal needs—including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid, and welfare matters—and implement related personal programmes.• Targeted Inclusion: Build constructive relationships with pupils, serving as a positive role model. Develop a strong understanding of students' individual Special Educational Needs (SEN) and implement tailored strategies outlined in their learning profiles.• Pastoral Care: Promote the full inclusion and acceptance of all students, providing directed pastoral support alongside tutors and house staff.
