Summary
Mosaic 1898 Direct Payments Support Service is supporting someone to find the right Personal Assistant (PA) to work with him for5 - 7.5 hours per week – flexibility with weekends and evenings is essential.
Pay: £15.20 per hour
About the Role:
We are looking for someone who can offer practical support, companionship,
and encouragement to help broaden his social life, meet new people, and build
meaningful connections and relationships.
He is an academic with a wide range of interests, including current affairs, films
and music, and enjoys thoughtful, interesting and intellectually stimulating
conversation. He would like to get out more, discover new activities and
places, meet people who share his interests and develop new friendships.
He would also like to explore opportunities for dating and developing a
meaningful relationship.
Your role will be to work alongside him to make these things possible. This
could include researching interesting events and activities together, visiting
new places, meeting new people, trying different social opportunities, and
exploring appropriate ways to meet potential partners.
Sometimes unfamiliar places and social situations can present barriers. A good
PA will work with him to identify those barriers and find practical ways around
them, rather than assuming that he needs to change.
There may also be times when it is helpful to talk through social situations
together, including communication, relationships, boundaries and personal
safety. This should always be approached respectfully and without judgement,
recognising that communication is a two-way process and that people
communicate, interact and experience the world in different ways.
This role is not about teaching someone how to behave, changing who he is or
expecting him to conform to particular social norms. It is about providing the
right support, removing barriers and creating opportunities so that he can make his own choices and have greater control over his friendships, relationships and social life.
There is no personal care or household cleaning involved.
You may occasionally be asked to provide cover when his other PA is on annual
leave or unwell. His other PA may similarly provide cover when you are
unavailable, so some communication between you will be needed to
coordinate support.
You do not need to share all his interests, but being naturally curious,
interested in people and able to enjoy thoughtful and stimulating conversation will be important.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who will take the time to get to
know him as an individual – his interests, aspirations, preferences and communication style – and work alongside him rather than making
assumptions about what support he needs.
