Summary

SEND Outreach & Engagement Teacher - Salford A different kind of teaching role - built around re-engagement, relationships and individual need.

Are you an experienced teacher who wants more time to understand the young person you're teaching?

SEND Inclusion Support is looking for a SEND Outreach & Engagement Teacher to support pupils across Salford who are currently struggling to access mainstream education.

You could be working with young people experiencing SEND, SEMH, EBSA, anxiety, attendance difficulties or other barriers to education.

This is not about trying to make every pupil fit the same timetable. It's about understanding where they are now, building trust and creating the conditions for them to engage with learning again.

Our approach combines professional teaching with a genuinely individualised approach.

We have developed our own bespoke Nurture Curriculum - a semi-formal curriculum designed for pupils who may be unable to access mainstream education.

It gives teachers structure, progression and resources to work from, while allowing you to adapt learning around the individual pupil. Where appropriate, it can feed into the National Curriculum and formal education pathways.

You won't be expected to create everything from scratch.

And although sessions may take place in the pupil's home or community, our teachers are never left to work in isolation.

You'll have ongoing support from our wider specialist team, regular communication, curriculum guidance and resources.

Our Nurture Teachers also come together for termly Nurture Teacher Days, giving you the opportunity to share ideas, resources and experiences with other teachers, discuss practice and learn from one another.

What you'll be doing

Delivering bespoke 1:1 education to pupils across Salford

Supporting young people with SEND, SEMH, EBSA, anxiety and barriers to attendance

Building positive, professional relationships with pupils

Using the pupil's interests and strengths to encourage engagement

Adapting teaching to individual needs and starting points

Supporting confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing

Planning and preparing engaging learning activities

Using our Nurture Curriculum alongside your own professional teaching expertise

Monitoring progress and maintaining clear records

Working appropriately with families, schools and other professionals

Supporting pupils towards their next appropriate education pathway

Who we're looking for

We're interested in hearing from experienced teachers who:

Hold QTS or have substantial teaching experience

Have experience working with pupils with SEND and/or SEMH

Understand the barriers that can prevent young people accessing mainstream education

Are confident adapting teaching on an individual basis

Are calm, patient and consistent

Can build strong professional relationships with young people

Can work independently while remaining part of a wider specialist team

Are reliable, professional and committed to improving outcomes
