About the Role
As a Learning Mentor, you will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning-whether emotional, behavioural, social or academic. You will work closely with class teachers, pastoral leads and the SEN team to deliver targeted support and interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group mentoring to pupils who require additional pastoral or wellbeing support
- Help pupils develop confidence, resilience and positive learning behaviours
- Support emotional regulation, social skills and engagement in learning
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, parents and staff
- Deliver tailored interventions and monitor progress
- Promote positive behaviour and act as a calm, reliable role model
- Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff and external agencies
- Maintain accurate records and follow safeguarding procedures consistently
What We're Looking For
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential)
- A degree is desirable
- Previous experience supporting children or young people (school, mentoring, youth work or similar)
- A calm, patient and empathetic approach
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly
- Confidence supporting pupils with additional needs
- Ability to follow safeguarding and pastoral procedures professionally
- Availability to start ASAP
