The Opportunity:

Long Term Futures are seeking a resilient and committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN/SEMH school in the B24 area.

This is a full-time, long-term role supporting a Year 11 pupil who has recently joined the school. The successful candidate will provide consistent 1:1 support, helping the pupil engage with learning, regulate their behaviour, and build positive relationships within the school environment.

This role is well suited to someone with previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs, who can remain calm under pressure while maintaining high expectations and positive boundaries. You will become part of a supportive staff team committed to helping every young person achieve success.

Your Key Responsibilities:

* Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 11 pupil with SEMH and behavioural needs

* Build a positive and trusting relationship to encourage engagement and attendance

* Support the pupil to access lessons and remain focused throughout the school day

* Implement behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques where required

* Promote emotional regulation, resilience, and independence

* Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and the SENCO to ensure consistent support

* Monitor progress and contribute to behaviour and intervention reviews

* Maintain a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment

Requirements:

* Previous experience supporting young people with SEMH, behavioural challenges, or additional needs

* Experience providing 1:1 support within a school or specialist setting

* Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

* Calm, resilient, and patient approach

* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of young people
