Role: Compliance Manager (Housing)

Pay Rate: £300.00 to £500.00 per day PAYE, with flexible holiday pay

Hours: 37 hours per week

Length of Contract: 6 months

Location: Cowley Road Hub, Cambridge CB4 0DN

Working Arrangements: Hybrid (office days/remote days not confirmed) – travel between sites will be required

Are you an experienced Housing Compliance Manager with a strong background in landlord health & safety, building compliance and risk management?

We’re looking for a confident leader to oversee statutory compliance across a large property portfolio, ensuring housing and buildings remain safe, compliant and well managed.

The Role

You will:

Lead a team of 7/8 compliance professionals, providing strong leadership, mentoring and performance management.

Develop and implement landlord and building safety strategies, policies and procedures.

Oversee compliance across areas including fire safety, asbestos and legionella.

Manage audits, assurance programmes, risk assessments and remedial action plans.

Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and ensure compliance with statutory requirements and best practice.

Manage consultants, contractors and contractual performance, with responsibility for a £2m budget.

Provide expert compliance and building safety advice to senior colleagues and stakeholders.

Establish and monitor robust KPIs, reporting systems and continuous improvement processes.

Travel between properties and offices and participate in a rotational out-of-hours emergency call-out service.

Essential Experience & Skills

3+ years’ experience managing landlord health & safety and property compliance within a similar organisation.

Strong housing compliance experience covering at least two of: asbestos, fire safety and legionella.

Proven team leadership and people management experience.

Strong knowledge of building safety legislation, regulatory requirements and risk management.

Experience managing contractors, consultants, procurement and contracts.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication and decision-making skills.

Meticulous, organised and able to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Essential Qualifications

HNC or equivalent professional qualification in Building Surveying, with relevant construction industry experience.

NEBOSH or recognised landlord/property compliance qualification.

GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths.

Desirable

Level 4 P405 Asbestos Management or equivalent.

Level 4+ Fire Safety / Fire Risk Assessment qualification.

Level 4 VRQ Diploma in Asset & Building Management Compliance.

Additional requirements: Enhanced DBS clearance, full UK driving licence with business-use insurance, ability to travel between sites, and availability for rotational emergency call-outs.
