Your new role

Your new role working as a Broker Backup Technician, you will provide vital support to a busy broker team, ensuring the smooth and accurate processing of London Market business and be responsible for both front and back-end technical duties. Reporting to the Broker Support Manager, you will be responsible for handling a broad range of classes across open market and delegated authority business.

Your role will involve producing and processing open market MRC slips, endorsements, cover notes, policy schedules, debit notes and monthly lineslip declarations, while also assisting with binding authority arrangements. You will review and process premium and risk bordereaux, produce LPANs, submit market work packages, maintain earned-to-incurred records and manage broker systems including Atlas and Lineage.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders on claims matters, support Coverholder applications and audits, calculate and monitor profit commissions, oversee binder renewal activity and manage premium payment follow-up where required. In addition, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, responding to bureau queries and ensuring all activities are completed in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have experience working as a Broker Backup, Technical Technician or Broker Support position gained within a Lloyd's broker and, ideally, be able to work in Southend. Ideally, you will have experience handling Binding Authorities and or open-market risks. Experience in MRC slip production You will possess a strong understanding of London Market processes and documentation and be comfortable working within a fast-paced environment where priorities can change throughout the day.

Experience using systems such as Brokasure, A&S, Atlas, Lineage, DCOM, PPL, AIF, ECF and IMR would be highly advantageous.

Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly within Excel, Word and Outlook, are essential. You will have excellent organisational skills, a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are also required, as you will regularly liaise with colleagues, insurers and other market contacts. Candidates who are studying towards, or have already achieved, ACII qualifications will be viewed favourably.
