Hays Education is working in partnership with a welcoming secondary school seeking a dedicated and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to join their Personalised Learning Centre (PLC) as soon as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students who require additional support to engage positively with education.
The RoleWorking within the school's PLC, you will support students with a range of additional needs, helping them access learning, develop confidence, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and socially.This position is full-time, working:
- Monday to Thursday: 8:00am - 4:00pm
- Friday: 8:00am - 3:30pm
- 37 hours per week
- Immediate start
- Initially until October half-term
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting secondary-aged students with SEND
- Has worked within a PLC, inclusion unit, nurture provision, alternative provision, or similar setting
- Can build positive relationships with students who may face barriers to learning
- Remains calm, patient, and professional in challenging situations
- Is confident supporting students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs
- Works effectively as part of a wider pastoral and inclusion team
What You'll Be Doing
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support
- Supporting students with SEND and SEMH needs
- Encouraging engagement, attendance, and positive behaviour
- Assisting students in developing confidence, independence, and resilience
- Working closely with teachers, SENDCOs, and pastoral staff to support student progress
