More detail about the role: This is a specialist nursing post which enables the individual to be responsible for aspects of the provision of high-quality specialist nursing care to both inpatient and outpatients within the speciality and to provide expert advice and support for patients diagnosed the condition. This post holder will act as an expert resource for both nursing and medical staff by providing advice, support and education through clinical practice evidence-based development. There will be close liaison and appropriate referral between all relevant departments, the lead clinician and other services, including those provided by community teams. The post holder will develop and sustain partnership working with individual groups, communities and agencies. They will facilitate the planning and delivery of care programmes to address patient needs and develop/ improve the service. Experience of change management within this role is extremely desirable as service expansion will include establishing new patient pathways and services. Experience from all areas of nursing will be considered but Interventional Radiology is a predominantly a procedural area and therefore theatre experience and excellent understanding of sterile procedures is essential. The Clinical Nurse Specialist will be based in Medical Imaging, Royal Devon University Healthcare Trust-Eastern Services however there will be an expectation that the successful applicant will also oversee nursing provision at the Community Diagnostic Centre based at the nightingale hospital Exeter. Main duties of this role include: Supporting the wards to co-ordinate the care throughout the patients pathway whilst under the care of the specialist team, from diagnosis through treatment and follow-up care. Working with all wards to support the care of the patient whilst and inpatient. Liaising with the Hybrid theatre to ensure safe scheduling of procedures in line with nurse staffing. The post holder will: Be a key member of, actively participate in, and work within the guidelines of the Multi-Disciplinary Team, as a key worker for patients with the specialist diagnosis. Provide appropriate written information for patients, relatives and hospital staff Provide psychological, social and cultural support to patients diagnosed with the relevant condition. Working Pattern: Core hours of the service are Monday Friday 9-5 however other working arrangements may be considered. The Interventional Radiology service operates 24/7, 365 days a year with an on call service outside of 8:30 16:30. Participation in this cover is an expectation of the role.
