Summary

Luma Education Recruitment is working with a leading Alternative Provision in Leicester, Leicestershire to recruit a SEND Functional Skills Tutor for an exciting, flexible ongoing opportunity.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Functional Skills Maths and English Tutor who enjoys working with young people with SEND, SEMH, autism, learning difficulties and additional needs.

The role offers 3-5 hours of teaching per day, with flexibility around availability, making it ideal for tutors looking for a part-time or ongoing role within a specialist Alternative Provision setting.

You will deliver engaging and accessible Functional Skills Maths and English sessions to learners from Entry Level 1 through to Level 2, adapting your teaching to individual abilities, learning needs and EHCP outcomes.

You will help learners develop essential literacy, numeracy, employability, confidence and independence skills, supporting their progression towards further education, employment and adulthood.

- Deliver Functional Skills Maths and English from Entry Level 1 to Level 2

- Plan and adapt lessons to meet individual SEND needs and EHCP outcomes

- Support learners with SEND, SEMH, autism, learning difficulties and additional needs

- Create engaging, inclusive and supportive learning environments

- Assess progress and provide constructive feedback

- Differentiate learning to suit individual abilities and learning styles

- Promote confidence, independence and positive engagement with education

- Work alongside support staff and the wider education team

- Maintain accurate learner records and contribute to reviews where required

- Experience delivering Functional Skills Maths and/or English

- Experience working with SEND, SEMH, autism or learners with additional needs

- Strong understanding of differentiated and individualised learning

- Confident classroom and behaviour management skills

- A patient, engaging and supportive approach

- Teaching/tutoring qualification desirable - QTS, PGCE, Cert Ed, PTLLS, AET, CET, DET or equivalent

- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

- £100-£150 per day, depending on hours worked

- 3-5 hours per day
