At first, a pupil might need help starting every activity.
They may rely on an adult to manage transitions, communicate what they need or stay engaged when learning becomes difficult.
Then gradually, things begin to change.
One less prompt. A little more confidence. A task completed independently.
SupplyGo is looking for a caring and dependable SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Tamworth, helping pupils overcome individual barriers to learning while developing greater confidence and independence.
You'll work alongside teachers and SEND staff, supporting pupils whose needs may include:
Autism (ASD) • ADHD • SEMH • Speech & Language Needs • Moderate Learning Difficulties
Your role will include:
- Providing targeted 1:1 and small-group support.
- Helping pupils access lessons and classroom activities.
- Adapting support around individual learning needs.
- Following individual learning and behaviour-support plans.
- Supporting communication and social interaction.
- Helping pupils regulate their emotions and remain engaged.
- Encouraging confidence and greater independence.
- Building positive, consistent relationships with pupils.
- Supporting the class teacher with learning activities.
- Sharing observations and progress with the wider school team.
We're looking for someone with previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND, whether that's been gained within a school, care or support environment.
You'll need to be:
- Patient, nurturing and resilient.
- Confident supporting different behaviours and needs.
- Able to remain calm when situations become challenging.
- Flexible enough to recognise that the same approach won't work for every pupil.
- A strong communicator and team player.
- Committed to helping young people develop rather than creating dependence.
A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification would be beneficial but isn't essential.
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one, will be required.
This is a full-time, long-term opportunity offering the consistency needed to really get to know the pupils you support.
You'll benefit from competitive daily pay, dedicated consultant support, free on-site parking and the potential for longer-term or permanent opportunities.
If you're looking for your next SEND Teaching Assistant role in Tamworth, SupplyGo would love to hear from you.
