St John Ambulance works at the heart of communities, supporting and enabling them to access and receive physical and mental health first aid. We do this through developing and providing effective community response and outreach services (e.g. Ambulance response) and using our longstanding expertise to empower people with vital clinical skills and the confidence to use them (e.g. our Volunteers and Community Advocates, and Young Responders programmes).
Job Summary
Join St John Ambulance as a National Account Manager (Core) and take responsibility for managing a portfolio of national accounts, driving customer retention, sustainable growth and long-term value.
You will build strong, trusted relationships with customers, developing a deep understanding of their needs and identifying opportunities to expand the depth and breadth of services across our commercial training portfolio. Using data and insight, you will identify opportunities, inform decision-making and continuously improve customer experience and operational performance.
Working closely with the Growth team and colleagues across the wider organisation, you will contribute to revenue generation, market share expansion and pipeline development, helping to build a high-performing and customer-centric commercial function aligned to St John Ambulance's 2026–2028 strategy.
About You
· You have experience in account management, relationship management, business development or a similar commercial role, ideally managing a portfolio of national or high-value customers.
· You have a proven ability to build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with customers and key stakeholders.
· You are commercially astute and understand how to identify opportunities to retain and grow customer accounts.
· You have experience using customer data, insight and performance information to inform decisions and identify opportunities.
· You are confident identifying opportunities to expand customer relationships across a range of products and services.
· You have strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at different levels.
· You are customer-focused and passionate about delivering a high-quality customer experience.
· You are proactive in identifying and resolving customer issues and improving operational processes.
· You are organised and able to manage a portfolio of accounts while balancing competing priorities and commercial objectives.
· You enjoy working collaboratively with colleagues across Growth, Sales, Business Development and wider teams to deliver shared objectives.
· You are comfortable working in a commercially focused environment and motivated by delivering measurable customer and business outcomes.

About the Role
· Manage a portfolio of national accounts, developing strategies to maximise retention, sustainable growth and long-term customer value.
· Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with key customer stakeholders, acting as a key point of contact and trusted partner.
· Develop a detailed understanding of customer needs, objectives and challenges to identify opportunities for growth.
· Identify opportunities to increase the depth and breadth of services customers use across the commercial training portfolio.
· Develop account plans and activity that support revenue growth, customer retention and long-term account development.
· Use customer data, insight and performance information to identify trends, opportunities and potential risks.
· Monitor account performance and take proactive action to improve customer engagement, retention and commercial outcomes.
· Continuously identify opportunities to improve customer experience and operational efficiency across the account portfolio.
· Work closely with the Growth team to support revenue generation, market share expansion and pipeline development.
· Collaborate with colleagues across Sales, Business Development, Training, Operations and other functions to deliver effective and customer-focused solutions.
· Share customer and market insight to inform wider commercial strategies and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
· Support the development of a high-performing, customer-centric commercial function aligned to St John Ambulance's 2026–2028 strategic ambitions.
