I am a 48-year-old woman living with a chronic illness and severe allergies. I am looking for a kind, reliable and patient Personal Assistant (PA) to support me at home. I value a calm, respectful, and friendly approach, especially when my health condition flares.
About the role
The role is to help me with everyday tasks and personal care while helping me maintain a safe and comfortable home. Support will include meal preparation, cleaning, personal care, medication and companionship.Location: Sprowston, NR7
Job DescriptionPreparing fresh meals from scratch in accordance with specific dietary and allergy requirements.Follow my allergy and safety requirements carefullyCleaning and maintaining a safe and comfortable home environment.Support with general household tasks such as laundry, tidying and other day-to-day chores.Supporting me with dressing and washing when required.Supporting me with managing symptoms during periods when my condition flares.Supporting with medication in accordance with instructions.Providing emotional support, reassurance and companionship.Being patient and understanding when I am having a difficult day or experiencing a flare.Helping me maintain my independence and dignity.Following my care and safety instructions carefully.Any other reasonable duties as requested.Person specification
Essential:Comfortable following instructions carefullyPractical and well organisedKind, patient, compassionate, calm and reliable, with a positive and respectful approachFlexible and willing to help where neededAble to follow dietary and allergy-related instructions.Respectful of privacy, dignity and confidentialityComfortable preparing meals and following specific dietary requirementsWilling to wash work clothes using a specified washing powderWilling to avoid perfumes, aftershave and strongly scented toiletries while working.Desirable:Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.Flexibility in working hours to accommodate the individual's needs.Understanding of how chronic illness, allergies, special diets and frequent flares can affect someone's day-to-day life.
Summary of terms and conditions
The pay rate for this position is £12.89 per hour for employed PAs and £15.55 per hour for self-employed PAs.Hours and times of work: 26 hours per week, shared between two PAs.Time discussed further at interview.Mornings: 1 hour 15 minutes, on four mornings per week.Lunch: 1 hour 30 minutes, on four days per week.Evenings: 3 hours, on five evenings per week. Evening hours are fixed at 16:30–19:30. Tuesday and Wednesday evenings are not required.The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks.The post is subject to the following:A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.Satisfactory references from two referees, one of whom must be your current or last employer.Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 3 months
