Summary

Design and Technology Technician | 25 Hours Per Week | Monday - Friday | Eastbourne

Hays Education are working with a secondary school in Eastbourne to recruit a Design & Technology Technician to support the smooth running of a busy and successful DT department.This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, organised, and proactive individual who enjoys working in an educational environment and supporting students and teaching staff across a range of Design and Technology disciplines.The Role:As the Design and Technology Technician, you will play a key role in preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and ensuring workshop areas remain safe, organised and ready for lessons. Working closely with teaching staff, you will help create a productive learning environment where students can develop their practical skills confidently and safely.Key responsibilities will include:

Preparing tools, materials, and equipment for lessons.

Supporting teachers with practical classroom activities and demonstrations.

Maintaining workshops, machinery and specialist equipment.

Monitoring stock levels and ordering materials when required

Carrying out routine maintenance and safety checks

Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Managing storage areas and keeping workspaces clean and organised.

Assisting with displays, projects and departmental administration as required.

About you:The ideal candidate will:

Have practical experience working with tools, machinery or workshop equipment.

Be highly organised with strong attention to detail.

Understand health and safety within a workshop environment.

Be confident working independently and as part of a team.

Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.

Have experience within a school setting.
