Your new company

Hays Education are working in partnership with a secondary school in Eastbourne to recruit a dedicated and flexible Individual Needs Assistant (INA) to provide 1:1 support for a Key Stage 4 pupil.This rewarding role requires an individual who can build positive relationships, provide tailored learning support, and help the student achieve their academic potential across a range of subjects. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the pupil both academically and emotionally throughout the school day.

Your new role

You will be working closely with a KS4 student, providing focused support during lessons and assisting them in accessing the curriculum. A particular emphasis will be placed on supporting GCSE-level learning in:

English

Mathematics

The timetable operates on a two-week rolling schedule, which includes split shifts, therefore flexibility and reliability are essential.

What you'll need to succeed

Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a KS4 pupil throughout the school day.

Support engagement, learning and progress across GCSE subjects.

Assist with English, Mathematics and Art coursework and lesson activities.

Build a positive, trusting relationship with the student to encourage confidence and independence.

Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SEND teams and pastoral colleagues.

Monitor progress and provide feedback where required.

Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Previous experience supporting children or young people within an educational setting.

Experience supporting learners at GCSE level, particularly in English, Mathematics and Art.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to adapt to the individual needs of the pupil.

Flexible approach to working patterns, including split shifts and a rotating timetable.

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
